Traction Air® is TRT’s advanced Central Tyre Inflation (CTI) system, designed to optimise tyre pressure in real time, improving traction, reducing wear, and keeping your fleet moving across any terrain.
Smarter Pressure. Total Traction.
The development of Traction Air® began in 1997, with TRT focused on improving vehicle performance across changing conditions. That innovation has evolved into today’s Traction Air CTI system, now proven across thousands of vehicles throughout New Zealand and Australia.
The challenge
Operating across sealed roads, gravel, mud, and soft ground creates constant changes in traction and tyre performance. Fixed tyre pressures force a compromise, reducing grip in off-road conditions and increasing tyre wear, fuel consumption, and instability on-road.
This limits efficiency, accelerates tyre degradation, and can impact safety across varying operating environments.
The Solution
Central Tyre Inflation, controlled from the cab. TRT’s Traction Air CTI system enables operators to adjust tyre pressure in real time to suit changing conditions.
By optimising tyre contact with the ground, it improves traction, reduces tyre wear, enhances safety, and increases overall vehicle efficiency on any surface.
-
Optimised Traction
Adjust tyre pressure to suit changing conditions, improving grip across sealed roads, gravel, mud, and soft ground.
-
Improved Stability & Control
Optimised tyre pressure increases vehicle stability, braking performance, and overall control across varying conditions.
-
Reduced Tyre Wear & Maintenance
Running the correct pressure for each condition minimises wear, extending tyre life and lowering operating costs.
-
Greater Operational Efficiency
Optimised rolling resistance improves fuel efficiency and enables smoother, more efficient operation across all surfaces.
-
Proven in Demanding Conditions
Developed over decades and proven across thousands of vehicles, Traction Air CTI performs reliably in real-world environments.
-
Flexible System Integration
Designed to integrate across a wide range of TRT trailers and applications, supporting diverse transport operations.
Identifying Your Traction Air Series
Not sure which Traction Air system you have?
Traction Air® has evolved over time, with different pressure cell designs, shapes, and materials used across different systems.
All units have a serial number attached to the pressure cell, either internally or externally. To help TRT identify your system, send us clear internal and external photos of the pressure cell, along with the serial number where possible.
With the right information, our team can confirm what system is fitted and help with the correct parts, service advice, or exchange unit.
- To help TRT identify your Traction Air series or model, we recommend sending:
- Pressure cell details
The pressure cell is the key identifier for your Traction Air® system. Different designs have been used across different models.
- Serial number
Every unit has a serial number attached to the pressure cell, either internally or externally.
- Design information
Pressure cells have evolved from round designs to rectangular and square styles.
- Material information
Pressure cell materials may include alloy, stainless steel, or composite hardened plastic.
- Internal and external photos
Send TRT clear internal and external photos of the pressure cell so we can confirm your system and point you to the right support.
Traction Air Service Exchange
- Keeping downtime to a minimum.
When a Traction Air component needs attention, TRT’s Service Exchange system helps get your vehicle or trailer back to work faster.
Instead of waiting for your original unit to be repaired before your equipment can return to service, TRT can supply an exchange unit, such as a pressure cell, ECU, or display screen. Your original unit is then returned to TRT for inspection and repair. - How it works:
Contact TRT
Get in touch with the TRT team and provide details of the issue, along with your Traction Air® system information where possible.
Receive an exchange unit
Where available, TRT will supply a suitable exchange pressure cell, ECU, or display screen to help minimise downtime.
Return the original unit
The removed unit is sent back to TRT for inspection and repair.
Repair and final costs
TRT assesses and repairs the returned unit. The customer is charged for the repair work completed.
